‘Farm to Fork’ and the Journey of Food

The Project ‘Farm to Fork’ is a new initiative of Feeding Albania. It aims at educating the youth and students regarding food systems of Albania. Most people know about the journey of the food from the farm on until it reaches our table.

But few understand the implications of what happens after some of that food is wasted. People are very surprised when they learn how much food is actually wasted, where it is wasted and how much we can do with that food for the good of the people.

This is why we have decided to activate the ‘Farm to Fork’ project which will aim at educating youth and students at schools of the Tirana region to learn what happens to the food after it is wasted. The project will not only show the current journey, but also the work that food banks and their volunteers do in Albania in order to redirect surplus food to the people in need, thus saving that food from getting wasted.

The components of the project are still at this time being put together. The initiative has received support from many families, volunteers and also local businesses in different ways. Most of the money and materials have been provided for free from local people who 💗 love food and 💗 love our community.

We hope that many students will learn and have fun from the project during this school year. Please follow our social media to see the initiative as it goes.
