Greenhouses Project
Supporting Rural Families Through Greenhouses and Sustainable Farming
Feeding Albania is expanding its support for families in need by building small-scale greenhouses in rural areas. These greenhouses are proving to be a practical and effective solution for families who rely on their own land to feed themselves.
Greenhouses help protect crops from unpredictable weather and allow families to extend the vegetable harvest season by at least one month, and often longer. In Albania’s favorable climate, where crops can be planted at least twice a year, this makes greenhouses an especially valuable tool for strengthening household food security and local economies.
Alongside the greenhouses, Feeding Albania is providing beneficiary families with high-quality vegetable seeds. In many rural areas, finding seeds that truly match local soil and terrain conditions can be difficult. Through trusted partners, we have been able to supply seeds that offer better yields and reliability, making farming efforts more rewarding and sustainable.
We are also supporting families with essential farming tools. Our goal is simple: to help those who are willing to work and who have access to land grow more food, become more resilient, and, when possible, support their extended families and neighbors. This approach strengthens not only individual households, but entire villages.
We believe that supporting rural families is one of the most effective ways to ensure access to good, quality food for all. Cities cannot thrive without strong villages, and agriculture remains a vital link between the two.
Beyond the practical support, this project carries a deeper message. We take time to meet families, listen to their needs, and work closely with local partners who often bring valuable ideas and insights. Above all, we want beneficiaries to know that they are not forgotten.
Feeding Albania remains committed to serving the poor and the humble, especially those living in remote and hard-to-reach areas. While the needs across Albania are still vast, this project has already shown encouraging results. Greenhouses work, and they work well. Our hope is to grow this initiative into a much larger program, reaching hundreds of families in the years ahead.
This greenhouse project builds upon Feeding Albania’s ongoing efforts to support rural livelihoods, including the construction of chicken coops for farming families. Together, these initiatives aim to provide long-term, dignified support—helping families produce food, sustain themselves, and look to the future with greater confidence.
